Academic Structure

The lecture program supports the field trips to key towns, cities, heritage sites, and museums in the UK, providing essential background information on their significance to British cultural heritage. Lectures are delivered by academic staff from the University of Birmingham. Self-directed study is a vital part of the British Cultural Heritage programme, encouraging students to take initiative during their participation. While lectures introduce many of the sites that will be visited, most learning occurs outside the classroom. Field trips will include guided tours with experts as well as opportunities for independent exploration, with staff available for questions. Both formats provide valuable firsthand experience and deeper insights into the sites' contributions to British cultural heritage.
