Fulbright-Elon University Award
Dr. Tom Ritchie is a Reader and Director of Student Experience at the University of Warwick, where he champions inclusive STEM education, relational pedagogies, and integrated curriculum co-design. With a background in history, his award-winning 'We are Chemistry' programme has created thriving learning communities focused on student success and wellbeing. As academic lead for Warwick's Building Belonging Framework and Education for Sustainable Development agenda, he works in partnership with students to co-design institution-wide approaches.
At Elon, Tom will investigate how interdisciplinary AI approaches can enhance STEM education. He will contribute to core courses and design a new course exploring AI across disciplines, applying Scholarship of Teaching and Learning principles to evaluate teaching effectiveness.
Tom eagerly anticipates collaborating with Elon's Chemistry Department and Centres for Teaching and Engaged Learning to develop inclusive teaching practices. Beyond academics, he looks forward to supporting civic engagement initiatives and contributing to campus-wide projects, including Elon's Design Forge and Howard Hughes Medical Institute initiatives.
Through this Fulbright experience, Tom aims to make a lasting impact by enhancing STEM education through AI integration, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and developing innovative teaching methodologies. He is committed to bringing these insights back to Warwick, establishing connections that benefit both institutions.
