Tina Holmes-Davis

Fulbright-University of Manchester Distinguished Scholar Award (Humanities)

Tina Holmes-Davis is an Associate Professor of Music Education at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, GA, and founder/executive director of the Center for Music Education at Georgia College (CME@GC). Her research focuses on self-regulated musical learning and disability in music education. She has published in the Clarinetist and the International Journal of Music Education, authored the book Able Will Suffice (GIA Publications), and hosts the podcast More Able than Dis…, sharing resources for teaching disabled musicians.

She teaches undergraduate music education courses and graduate courses in curriculum, research, and philosophy. Through CME@GC, she leads 8-12 annual professional development workshops and supports community initiatives like BASF Bobcat Keys and a Suzuki strings program at Baldwin County Early Learning Center. CME@GC also sponsors an instrument repair certificate for teachers.

A stroke survivor, Holmes-Davis plays a right-handed clarinet and performed on a one-handed clarinet at Carnegie Hall with the Tara Winds Clarinet Choir in June 2022 - the first such performance on that instrument at a world-class venue. She also performs with the Georgia College Wind Symphony and Wellston Winds Adult Community Band.
Previously a public school band/music teacher (2002-2015), she holds degrees from Georgia College, Auburn University, and Boston University.
