Employing community-based methods such as mental mapping, photovoice, digital storytelling, and oral history, he prioritizes ethical community collaboration in his research and teaching. His commitment to community-based teaching and learning drives his work as a founding member of the Power+Place Collaborative, a campus-community digital storytelling and oral history initiative. As Faculty Director of Residence in Elon’s Global Neighborhood, he lives on campus with his wife, two children, and dog.
