Sacha Sims
Fulbright/Royal Veterinary College Award
Sacha Sims is from Atlanta, Georgia, and recently graduated from Baylor University with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Economics. Her academic interests lie at the intersection of infectious disease, health policy, and health system strengthening. As a Fulbright Postgraduate Scholar, she will pursue an MSc in One Health at the Royal Veterinary College in London, a programme that integrates human, animal, and environmental health sciences.
Sacha’s passion for global health was shaped by her undergraduate thesis on the 2014 Ebola outbreak in West Africa, where she analyzed how systemic healthcare infrastructure failures intensified the crisis. She also interned at a clinical-stage biotechnology company, contributing to drug development and clinical operations for rare cancers.
During her Fulbright year, Sacha is eager to explore the intersections of research and policy by attending public health seminars at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and engaging directly with UK and international health policymakers. She looks forward to exchanging ideas with scholars from around the world, exploring London’s vibrant arts and cultural scene, and participating in community health outreach. She hopes to use this experience to pursue a career in health investment and infrastructure, focused on improving access and resilience in global healthcare systems.
