Riddhi Kanetkar

Fulbright All-Disciplines Postgraduate Award - New York University

Riddhi is from London, UK, and has a BA in Comparative Literature from UCL and an MSc from the University of Oxford. She previously worked as a technology reporter for four years, covering startups and technological developments in AI and climate tech.

She is passionate about bridging the gap between academia and journalism, so that the narratives of underrepresented communities can be brought to the mainstream. Her academic interests span literature, oral poetics, and the junction between technology, the humanities, and society. Riddhi hopes to use her Fulbright Award as an opportunity to examine how fading art forms in India, such as Maharashtrian women’s oral poetry, can both be preserved within the canon of what we deem ‘world literature’, and how journalistic tools can document this literary tradition. During her Fulbright at NYU she will focus her study on South Asia, Comparative Literature, and journalism. She hopes to immerse herself in New York City’s bustling media landscape, explore the city’s art galleries and museums, and learn from an interdisciplinary academic community.
