Richard Fisher

Richard Fisher read Modern History at Balliol College, Oxford and has worked in the scholarly publishing sector for over 40 years, serving inter alia as Managing Director of Cambridge University Press and Deputy Chairman of Yale University Press. He has received three national ‘lifetime achievement’ awards for his work in this domain. In recent years Richard has been much involved with the public policy aspects of research dissemination, working closely with the Independent Publishers Guild, the British Academy and other UK agencies, and has served two discrete terms as Vice-President of the Royal Historical Society. Richard lives in Cambridge and is a trustee of the Historic Towns Trust and a member of the Heritage Committee of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, reflecting a wider interest in the history of sport: he has been an Associate Editor (sport) for the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography for over thirty years.
