
Ravi Ghosh

Ravi Ghosh is a London-based art critic and editor. He is deputy editor at the British Journal of Photography and formerly worked at the Financial Times and Elephant, a contemporary art magazine. His writing has also appeared in The Guardian, The Economist, Tribune, i-D, Verso, ArtReview, RA Magazine, The Baffler and many more publications. He has presented on photography and journalism at LCC, LSE, and at festivals including PhotoIreland, Fotografia Europea and Fotofestiwal Łódź. He has also collaborated with artists on monographs and other projects.
He studied English at the University of Oxford, graduating with a BA in 2018, and will build on this theoretical background at Columbia, capitalising on the full breadth of expertise within the Department of Art History & Archeology. His research will focus on photographic dialogues between the UK and US, the history of conceptual and video art, and art in South Asia. He will also engage with New York City’s rich critical and magazine culture, continuing his writing and mentoring with a new set of cultural prompts.
