Fulbright/Ulster University Award

Rania Chehaitli graduated in December 2024 from the Honors University Program at Florida State University with Bachelor of Science degrees in Political Science and International Affairs, a minor in Law & Philosophy, and a concentration in Religion. She is originally from Daytona Beach, Florida and will be studying at Ulster University’s Belfast campus to obtain a Master of Laws degree in Gender & Human Rights.

In her time at FSU, she worked in various positions in student government, extending to political and social advocacy work in her community, and conducted a research project on Female Sufism in the Medieval Abbasid Era. She hopes to continue to immerse her Lebanese identity in her interests in politics, human rights, and the law through research on Middle Eastern affairs while she pursues a career in International Human Rights Law.

As a dancer and musician, she is looking forward to the UK’s thriving arts scene as the backdrop for her studies while obtaining her LLM. She hopes to achieve a deeper understanding of the socio-political history of Northern Ireland while attending school in Belfast, as well as the UK’s notable legal system and integral role in the production of international law.
