Phoebe Ambrose
Fulbright/Royal Holloway, University of London Award
Phoebe Ambrose grew up on a farm in Syracuse, New York, which sparked her passion for food systems and agriculture. She earned a B.S. in Food Studies and Citizenship and Civic Engagement from Syracuse University in 2022.
After graduation, Phoebe joined the AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) program. During her three years of service with a hunger relief nonprofit in the Florida Keys, she contributed to various programs and events to advance local food security. Phoebe’s most notable project involved establishing and managing an aeroponic urban farm where she deepened her horticulture skills and passion for community gardens as a solution to food insecurity. This Fulbright grant will enable Phoebe to become a leader in urban agriculture through an MSc in Global Health: Food Security, Sustainability, and Biodiversity from Royal Holloway, University of London.
Phoebe plans to continue gardening with the Royal Holloway campus garden and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. She is excited to learn about UK agricultural traditions and to explore the UK’s extensive green spaces and waterways.
