Queen's University Belfast - Global Challenges Teaching Award Exploring Inequality
Philip McGowan is a Professor of American Literature and Associate Dean for Internationalisation at Queen’s University Belfast. They hold a BA in English and a PhD in American literature from the University of Dublin, and also recently served two terms as the President of the European Association for American Studies, from 2016 to 2024. While twentieth-century and contemporary American literature and culture are key areas of their research interests and teaching, they also played a key role in the development of the Liberal Arts degree at Queen’s. This Fulbright will provide an opportunity to enhance the international experiences of the Liberal Arts students and empower them to discover co-created responses to inequality, one of the main challenges facing the twenty-first-century world.
