Miles Manney

Fulbright/University of Edinburgh Award

Miles Manney is an Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army and a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he majored in Law and Legal Studies with a minor in Terrorism Studies. Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Miles is passionate about leadership, education, and public service. His experiences at West Point convinced him that leadership is ultimately an act of teaching and inspired him to explore how people learn and develop. As a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Edinburgh, he will pursue an MSc in Education (Philosophy of Education), researching how educational philosophy can help address the opportunities and challenges created by artificial intelligence while preserving the human relationships at the heart of learning. Beyond the classroom, Miles looks forward to experiencing Scottish culture, trying out for the University of Edinburgh rugby club, and learning alongside students from around the world. He hopes to return to the United States with new perspectives that strengthen military leader development, educational policy, and public service.
