Megan Baldemor
Fulbright/University College London Award
Megan Baldemor graduated from Santa Clara University, where she earned a BSc in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Medical & Health Humanities. Her research focused on oligodendrocyte maturation in a genetic model of schizophrenia. Moving forward, she is interested in studying the molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration, with a particular focus on Alzheimer's disease. Outside the laboratory, Megan is passionate about community service and the arts. She is the co-founder of Kids ARTopia, a nonprofit dedicated to providing art opportunities for underserved youth. As a Fulbright Scholar, Megan will pursue an M.Res. in Translational Neuroscience at University College London, investigating how imbalances in tau isoforms contribute to aggregation in directly reprogrammed neurons. Megan looks forward to collaborating with and learning from the United Kingdom's dementia research community. In addition, Megan is excited to join London's vibrant arts community. She plans to immerse herself in the dance scene and explore the city's famous museums.
