Kajal Schiller

Kajal Schiller, a Summerville, South Carolina native and Princeton University alumna, is a public health researcher dedicated to understanding how childhood environments shape human development. A proud transracial and transnational adoptee originally from India, she is passionate about public health, specifically exploring how environmental stressors influence pubertal development and biological milestones like the age of menarche. As a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Birmingham, Kajal will apply her public health background to study these relationships. Culturally, she is eager to volunteer at local shelters, capture her journey through photography, and share her love for cooking and baking with new friends. Driven by her background, Kajal loves mentoring younger generations especially other adoptees navigating complex landscapes of connection and belonging and looks forward to building meaningful, lifelong relationships across the UK. During her fellowship, she aims to deepen her expertise in developmental epidemiology and build cross-continental collaborations to inform proactive public health policies for vulnerable youth.
