Jessica McCaughey
Fulbright-Queen's University Belfast Scholar Award (Creative Writing)
Jessica McCaughey, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Writing at the George Washington University (GWU) in Washington, DC, where she teaches and studies professional writing. Her interest in workplace writing was sparked during her early, post-college years as she watched professionals across organizations struggle with written communication. Her upcoming book looks at writing development during moments of career change.
Jessica co-founded the Archive of Workplace Writing Experiences, a collection of audio interviews and resources about workplace writing in the United States. While at Queen’s University Belfast, Jessica will develop a new archive, called Belfast Writers at Work—a public scholarship project that will allow her to draw insights about workplace writing development in Northern Ireland.
Jessica also writes and publishes creative writing, and her essays and fiction have appeared in publications like The Best American Travel Writing, The Fourth Genre, The Colorado Review, Gulf Coast: A Journal of Literature and the Fine Arts, and The Rumpus, among many others. At Queen’s, Jessica will teach creative nonfiction at the Seamus Heaney Centre.
She is delighted to bring her family to Belfast and make a temporary home in Northern Ireland.
