Grace Amui

Fulbright All Disciplines Postgraduate Award - University of Central Florida (UCF)

After training with YWAM at the University of the Nations in Perth, Australia, for a Performing Arts DTS, Grace realised her childhood writings—and love for Toy Story in Spanish—were more than hobbies. She created original work for West Australian communities, from spoken word to choreographed skits, and assisted on short films with Cygnet Film. A key moment was learning ‘todo lo puedo en Cristo que me fortalece,’ which reignited her passion for the creative arts and languages.

Grace went on to write her first musical, This is Me, performed at SEK International School in Barcelona while completing her Theatre and Creative Writing BA in London. Alongside being 2024’s editor of Brunel Writer, she’s received mentorship from LUNG Theatre, ChewBoy Productions, and Harrow Arts Centre. Her work appears in collections such as the BLA’s Borderless anthology, honouring the late Dr. Benjamin Zephaniah.

Inspired by writers including Zephaniah, Tennessee Williams, and Maya Angelou, Grace is honoured to partner with Fulbright as she begins her MFA in Writing. She aims to refine her craft, explore U.S. literature in context, and empower underrepresented voices—particularly adolescents—through storytelling, educational training, and celebrating interculturalism. Of course, she’s also excited to expand her Spanish vocabulary beyond ordering ‘pan’
