Emily Wiebke

Fulbright University of St Andrews Summer Institute

Emily Wiebke was born and raised in Connecticut, and is currently a Junior at Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore, Maryland. She is majoring in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences. Once Emily finishes undergraduate and graduate school she would like to either work in a nursing home with dementia patients or in a hospital. During high school she interned at a nursing home working with Alzheimer patients and absolutely loved the thought of doing this for the rest of her life.

During her time in Scotland, Emily is looking forward to experiencing both the academic and cultural life of Scotland. She is also eager to explore Scottish culture and learn more about the communities she will be living among during her time abroad.

While in the UK, Emily hopes to strengthen her academic interests and broaden her understanding of speech, language, and communication across cultures. She aims to build meaningful relationships, gain skills that will support her future career, and bring home new ideas that will help her better serve the patients she hopes to work with one day. Emily’s goal is to return with more confidence in her abilities and experiences that will shape her both personally and professionally.
