Elyza Bruce

Elyza graduated from Georgetown University with a degree in English and minors in Environmental Studies and Creative Writing. During her studies, she developed a passion for the environmental humanities and learned how literature and cultural phenomena can be used as a lens to better understand the state of ecological crisis and humanity’s relationship with the more-than-human world. This academic interest culminated in her English Honors thesis, Ecotourism in the Scottish Highlands and the Legacy of British Romanticism. At the University of Glasgow’s School of Social and Environmental Sustainability, Elyza will pursue a MLitt in Environment, Culture, and Communication. During her studies, Elyza plans on investigating the cultural dimensions and ecological impact of the Rewilding Movement and conservation strategies in the Scottish Highlands. Upon completing her degree, Elyza hopes to contribute to conservation efforts in her home country, where landscapes are increasingly threatened by deregulation and extraction. Elyza is eager to get involved with environmental groups and artistic communities in Dumfries and Galloway to learn more about the intimate relationship between landscape, culture and people.
