Fulbright Distinguished Teacher - University of Rochester
Eleanor Paremain has been teaching English Literature and Language in a large comprehensive secondary school (Uckfield College) for the past 9 years, teaching students aged 11-18. As Deputy Curriculum Leader of English, she is actively involved in shaping the curriculum, contributing to teacher training, and working with others to build a rich super-curricular programme. Prior to training to teach in 2014 (Exeter), Ella was awarded a BA in English and Drama (Royal Holloway, 2004), an MA in Modern Literature and Culture (York, 2006), and a PhD in Theatre Studies (Birkbeck and the Victoria and Albert Museum, 2013).
Ella is passionate about all things theatre and performance, in particular the transformative power of improvisation. Through the Fulbright DAI programme, she is looking forward to exploring methods to foster a sense of confidence and self-expression by finding a voice in the English or Language Arts classroom, in order to promote a sense of belonging.
