Eden Knapp

Fulbright/University of Nottingham Award

Eden Knapp graduated from Columbia University with a major in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Aerospace Engineering. During her time at university, Eden was deeply involved in her community, focusing on leadership and mentorship as the President of the Columbia chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), a Resident Adviser, and a mentor for the "MechE Mentors" program. Her technical background includes designing EVA tools (space tools!) with the Columbia Space Initiative’s Micro-G NExT team and conducting specialized research on solar sail technology. As a Fulbright recipient, Eden will pursue an MSc in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nottingham, where she will continue to explore the potential of solar sails for both space travel and climate change mitigation. Outside of school, Eden loves being outdoors, whether hiking, biking, or just exploring, and she adores finding new vegan recipes to cook and bake. She is so excited to experience Nottingham, especially the beautiful campus and Sherwood Forest!
