Daina Worcester
The University of Rhode Island - Global Challenges Teaching Award
Dr. Daina Worcester is a nurse practitioner and registered nurse. Her passion for community health nursing has deepened as the populations she serves continue to expand. This has ranged from providing primary care for adults in custody with the Department of Corrections to providing rural healthcare to the Toledo district in Belize. These settings, along with her current practice caring for the Providence community, continue to affirm the importance of developing solutions to one of the planet's biggest challenges, health inequality. At The University of Rhode Island's College of Nursing, Daina engages her students to consider how community impacts health. She seeks to develop students’ cultural humility through global learning experiences including study abroad and internationalization at home efforts including COIL. She is very excited to design an interprofessional, cross cultural COIL experience for her students as she truly believes that cultural humility is an antidote to health inequality.
