Clara Hasegawa
Fulbright Lancaster University Summer Institute
Clara Hasegawa is from Syracuse, New York, and is a first-year student at Syracuse University majoring in film production. She is honoured to be participating in the film program at Lancaster University. Hasegawa has long been interested in storytelling, collaboration, and global engagement. Following her class trip to Montreal in high school, she developed a deeper appreciation for cross-cultural connection and its influence on visual media. Clara is especially interested in story development, concept art, and camera work.
During her time abroad, she aims to develop these interests by exploring the characteristics that make UK cinema distinct, while also learning from the perspectives and experiences of her peers. Clara is also eager to travel throughout the UK, engaging with its history, culture, and historic landscapes. A fantasy enthusiast and detail-oriented traveller, she is particularly drawn to the UK’s architecture and visual history. Through her studies, she aims to approach new experiences with creativity, critical thinking, and compassion. Overall, she is thrilled to take part in this opportunity and is looking forward to applying what she learns abroad to her future work!
