Cindy Hsu

Fulbright Global Scholar Award

Cindy H. Hsu, MD, PhD, MS, is an emergency medicine and critical care physician at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she serves as Division Chief of Critical Care. Her research aims to break down the barriers between translational and clinical science to improve neurological outcomes after cardiac arrest, spanning large animal studies, clinical trials and AI-guided resuscitation technology. Through a collaboration with East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA), she will use human-centered design to test whether an AI-guided blood pressure device her team is developing performs during cardiac arrest resuscitation across the UK's helicopter emergency medical system. She looks forward to working alongside EAAA's flight crews, building on global relationships formed during her years on the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation's Advanced Life Support Task Force. She hopes to return with prototype validation data and lasting partnerships to advance emergency care and resuscitation science across the two countries. Outside medicine, Dr. Hsu enjoys time in nature, travel and cooking.
