Charlotte Clark

Fulbright-Nursten Food Security at The University of Florida Postgraduate Award

Charlotte graduated from the University of Birmingham with a BSc in Sport, Exercise, and Health Sciences. Her interest in metabolic research began in her first year when she learnt about clinical biochemistry. This inspired her dissertation investigating metabolic pathways, cellular stress and protein folding. At the University of Florida, Charlotte will pursue a Master of Science in Food Science and Human Nutrition. She aims to deepen her understanding of metabolism and nutrition while expanding into interdisciplinary fields such as bioinformatics, microbiology, and genomics. This training will equip her to investigate nutrient metabolism and metabolic disorders associated with female reproductive health and obesity. Beyond her academic pursuits, Charlotte is an avid rugby player and enjoyed playing for her university. She also enjoys hiking and camping. During her time in the United States, she hopes to explore as many national parks as possible and get involved in some of the sporting opportunities the University of Florida has to offer.
