Ayinawu Abdul-Samed

Fulbright-American University Postgraduate Award

Ayinawu Abdul-Samed completed her undergraduate degree in Marketing at University of Leicester. During her studies, she developed a strong interest in policy while serving as the Marketing School Representative, where she helped address student concerns and worked with staff to improve teaching quality and the overall student experience within the business school. After graduating, Ayinawu took a gap year to recover from burnout by spending time reading, learning about politics, writing, travelling, and fitness. She will pursue a Master’s in International Affairs and Policy Analysis at American University in Washington, D.C where she hopes to learn how practical and inclusive policymaking can make a tangible difference in people’s everyday lives. Through her Fulbright award, Ayinawu looks forward to challenging herself intellectually and personally, embracing new learning experiences, engaging in meaningful conversations, and expanding her understanding of politics and governance. She is especially excited to immerse herself in the vibrant academic, cultural, and political life of the United States. Outside of academia, she can’t wait to explore America’s famous thrift stores, a true thrifting heaven and to visit iconic TV and film locations she’s loved for years.
