Asiyah Jilani

Fulbright Scotland Summer Institute on Technology, Innovation and Creativity: University of Strathclyde and the Glasgow School of Art 

Asiyah was born in Boston but has spent most of her life in Dallas, Texas. A rising junior at the University of Texas at Austin, she is majoring in Informatics with a minor in computer science.

Asiyah is interested in the intersection of social science and technology; she wants to utilize design to create technologies that are accessible and ethical, especially within the healthcare field. Asiyah is a passionate advocate for mental health awareness and seeks to learn how she can leverage technology to address barriers in mental health care.

Outside of her studies, Asiyah loves creative media. She is a lifelong writer and has written for various publications such as UT’s Orange Magazine.

Asiyah looks forward to gaining inspiration from a country as innovative and creative as Scotland. She aims to learn about the kind of technological systems that exist there, and she plans to implement this knowledge in her future work. She is especially enthusiastic to explore the vibrant art, architecture, and unique culture that exists throughout Glasgow.
