Amy Bass

Fulbright-New School Postgraduate Award

Amy Bass, originally from Manchester, graduated in 2023 with a first-class honours degree from UCL’s Bartlett School of Architecture. Since graduating, she has been working at the world-renowned firm Foster + Partners in London. Amy is passionate about the intersection of Architecture, Politics, and community, with a particular focus on social housing and how thoughtful design can strengthen social ties and promote equality.

As a Fulbright scholar, she will pursue a master’s in architecture at Parsons School of Design in New York City. There, she aims to explore innovative approaches to community-focused social housing, combining emerging technologies such as AI and computational design with traditional hand-drawing and craft-based methods. Her research will examine inner-city housing design, using human-centered, adaptable, and sustainable urban environments.

In the U.S., Amy looks forward to immersing herself in New York’s dynamic architectural culture, collaborating with diverse voices, and participating in political conversations around the future of housing. She hopes to return to the UK with fresh strategies to influence housing policy and contribute to building more inclusive, climate-resilient cities for the future.
