Alasdair Jones

Alasdair is an interdisciplinary social scientist with interests in the fields of urban studies and social research methodology.  He is also an established HE educator, holding Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, with particular expertise in teaching social research methods.  In his current role, as Associate Professor at the University of Exeter’s Department of Geography and Global Systems Institute (GSI), Alasdair is responsible for leading the Minor in Sustainable Solutions – an exciting new future skills pathway for undergraduate students seeking to broaden their capacity to understand and help address sustainability challenges. 

 

Prior to joining the University of Exeter, Alasdair worked in the third sector (for the charity Living Streets and the RSA think tank), before commencing his career in academia – most recently as an Associate Professor at the LSE’s Department of Methodology (with prior positions at LSHTM and the University of Hertfordshire).  During his time at the LSE Alasdair spent a year as Associate Director (Research and Development) at the University of Auckland’s Public Policy Institute, where he continues to serve as a Research Associate.
