Adele Patrick

Royal Society of Edinburgh Award - City University of New York (CUNY)

Adele Patrick has been developing innovative cultural projects rooted in equalities for over 30 years. A co-founder of Glasgow Women’s Library, Adele has had a leadership role in this change making organisation since 1991 and is currently a Co-Director. Trained as a designer (and subsequently a lecturer) at Glasgow School of Art (GSA) in 2016 Adele gained Honorary Doctorates from both GSA and from Strathclyde University and became Scotswoman of the Year in recognition of her contribution to Scotland’s creative and cultural sectors. Following a Clore Leadership Fellowship in 2018 Adele’s Post Fellowship research has focused on feminist leadership.

Drawing on her experience in developing independent initiatives, her work in and with academia, collaborations with feminists working in global contexts and in recent years as a consultant, coach and trainer, Adele’s Scholarship will focus on what it means to lead well and specifically what constitutes values led leadership in the arts and cultural sectors. This award will enable Adele to bring to fruition a publication, research and generate new thinking in the stimulating environment of the CUNY Graduate Center, accessing their inspiring collections. She will be hosted as a CLAGS/Feminist Press Scholar in Residence at the Center for LGBTQ Studies.

This award is sponsored by the US-UK Fulbright Commission.
