Fulbright King's College London Summer Institute - Modern Britain: Institutions, Power, & People

Ace Farris is a rising junior currently enrolled at the University of Louisville. He is pursuing a double major in history and political science with minors in classical studies and criminal justice. At the University of Louisville, Ace is heavily involved with the history honors society, Phi Alpha Theta, serving as the organization’s treasurer. Additionally, he is a member of his university’s Honors Scholar program.

Growing up in Eastern Kentucky, Ace realized his passion for various issues afflicting citizens throughout his region such as homelessness and substance abuse. After he moved to Louisville, he realized that these issues touched more than just his region and affected all of Kentucky, which only served to intensify his passion.

By studying abroad at King’s College London, Ace hopes to broaden his worldview and meet new people from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, he hopes that creative solutions to the problems facing Kentucky can be found by studying British politics. Significantly, by studying the English roots of the common law system, Ace seeks to gain a firmer understanding of American jurisprudence, which would support his aspiration to become a lawyer.
