US-UK Fulbright Commission pays homage to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II

On behalf of the US-UK Fulbright Commission, we wish to express our great sadness at the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Joining the nation, Commonwealth and global community in paying homage to one of the most important figureheads of the twentieth and twenty-first century, we salute her many achievements in the name of international relations and diplomacy.  Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Her Majesty, The Queen has been pivotal in reinforcing the special relationship between the UK and the US.  Beginning in 1951, Queen Elizabeth II has nurtured a seventy-year friendship with the White House, meeting with thirteen of the last 14 Presidents over four state and two unofficial visits to the United States.  As a patron of over 600 charities, many focused on supporting children & young people, education and the environment, her support for such issues has been integral in uplifting the prominence placed on initiatives that forge world-wide cohesion and innovation and which resonate so strongly with the Fulbright Commission.

We celebrate the life of our Queen, a unique stateswoman, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who leaves an immense legacy and void in our hearts.
