US-based Airline JetBlue and the US-UK Fulbright Commission announce new partnership to support international education

JetBlue – the sixth largest airline in the US with service to more than 100 destinations in the Americas – will be the exclusive airline sponsor for the 45th annual USA College Day event, taking place on the 23rd and 24th September in London. Organised by the US-UK Fulbright Commission in partnership with EducationUSA, USA College Day is recognised as the largest and most established event in Europe for students looking to explore undergraduate study options in the USA. In 2022, the event is returning to an in-person fair for the first time in three years.

For those early in the undergraduate application process, USA College Day is an ideal way to explore a number of different US universities and learn about studying in the US, while for those later in the process, it is an opportunity to meet with admissions officers who will be assessing their applications. The event annually welcomes over 120 US universities and thousands of students and parents, this year with the critical support of JetBlue.

JetBlue have also announced a generous gift to 25 UK Fulbright award recipients in celebration of their recently established London to Boston route. Grantees will be awarded a complimentary airline ticket to travel any time in the next 12 months to any destination on the JetBlue network. In addition, JetBlue have launched a new Student and Educational Travel initiative which offers discounted tickets and increased baggage allowance for individuals travelling for education purposes from the UK to the US.

Maria Balinska, Executive Director of the US-UK Fulbright Commission said“We are very grateful to be receiving this generous support from JetBlue at such an important moment for higher education in the UK and US. As we return to our in-person USA College Day event, we are hopeful for the future of education exchange and believe initiatives like this are essential in bridging the access gap to international educational and helping us move towards our vision of a world where there are no barriers to learning, understanding, and collaboration.”

JetBlue has a long tradition of taking an active role in and giving back to the communities we serve and that’s no exception in London where we’re proud to partner with the U.S.-U.K. Fulbright Commission to provide exceptional students with complimentary travel to the U.S. so they can further achieve their educational ambitions,” said Robin Hayes, chief executive officer, JetBlue. “With our expanding service at London Heathrow and London Gatwick to both New York and Boston we’re further establishing JetBlue’s presence in the U.K. and introducing travelers – including these students – to a new, elevated experience when flying across the North Atlantic.”

US-UK Fulbright Commission staff and Fulbrighters were welcomed to Winfield House by US Ambassador, Jane Hartley to celebrate the exciting new partnership.
