Glasgow School of Art Visiting Professorship

The Fulbright Scotland Visiting Professorship at The Glasgow School of Art contributes to the intellectual life of the GSA through seminars, masterclasses, public research lectures and curriculum development in any discipline within the institution for six months.

The Glasgow School of Art (GSA) was founded in 1845 as one of the first Government Schools of Design and is one of Europe’s leading university-level institutions for creative disciplines. GSA has a main campus in Glasgow and a smaller campus in Altyre (in the Scottish Highlands).

The GSA has four academic schools:

  1. School of Fine Art
  2. School of Design
  3. Mackintosh School of Architecture
  4. School of Innovation and Technology

The GSA is a UK leader in creative practice research, and historical and critical studies research.

The School has a number of established and emergent specialised research centres, including the Mackintosh Environmental Architecture Research Unit (MEARU), Glasgow Urban Lab (GUL), Digital Health and Care Innovation Centre (DHI) and Rural Lab, that advance collaborative research and knowledge exchange with external stakeholders and partners. GSA’s strategic research themes are: Sustainable Environment and Economies; Cultural Landscape and Identity; History, Heritage, Archives and Collections; and Health and Care. Applications are sought in all appropriate disciplines, but applications in the following areas are preferred: Decolonial Practice and Theory in Art, Design and Architecture; Design for Health and Care; and Cultural and Future Heritage.
