Fulbright grantee meets the Queen

Current Fulbright grantee at Queen’s University Belfast James Hurley was fortunate to meet HM Queen Elizabeth II at Marlborough House in London last week.
The event, sponsored by the Commonwealth Secretariat, was in celebration of Commonwealth Day, Monday 9 March 2015. James was attending as a representative forthe Commonwealth Parliamentary Association branch in Northern Ireland, where he works at the Northern Ireland Assembly as an Assistant Assembly Clerk. Also in attendance was the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, HE Kamalesh Sharma. The event included Commonwealth Day-related activities including the observance in Westminster Abbey (with the Royal Family in attendance) and other capacity-building exercises hosted by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.
James is the current and first US Postgraduate Scholar with the Northern Irish Assembly Award at Queen’s University Belfast parliamentary Association.
