66 state school students from across the UK have won places and funding to prestigious US universities – including all eight Ivy Leagues colleges - after taking part in the Sutton Trust US Programme.
Of the successful students, 83% are in the first generation of their families to attend university and a majority come from households earning less than £25k a year. This is the most successful year of the programme since its creation five years ago.
The US-UK Fulbright Commission is proud to announce the British scholars from its 2016-17 cohort. During this academic cycle, 47 British scholars will be going on exchange to study, lecture and/or research in the US.
Among the 2016-17 grantees are the first cohort of the Fulbright Cyber Security Awards, set up by the Cabinet Office as part of a package of increased US-UK cyber security cooperation. This initiative was discussed on the visit of the Prime Minister, David Cameron to the White House for talks with President Obama in January 2015.

The US-UK Fulbright Commission is delighted to announce its UK Summer Institute participants for 2016. 59 freshman and sophomore undergraduates will be travelling to the UK this summer for an unforgettable 3-6 week academic, cultural and social programme at some of the country’s top educational institutions.
On Saturday, 14 students from low-income and first-generation backgrounds met President Obama in London. Each of the students have won places at top-tier US universities as participants of the Sutton Trust US Programme.
