Barron was raised in Norfolk, Virginia and attended the Norfolk Academy before pursing a Bachelor in Science at Hampden Sydney College. He is a Venable Honour Scholar and belongs to the Chi Beta Phi Honorary Society. Barron finished a 3-year externship programme at Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2009 and became a fellow of the Leadership Society of 1791 in April 2010. Beyond philanthropy, Barron’s other interests include sailing, snowboarding and tennis. Barron has been a member of Operation Smile’s Executive Leadership Council and received the United States President’s Volunteer Service Award for his dedicated involvement. In 2007 and 2009, he served as a Student Educator on medical missions to Linyi, China and Panama City, Panama. He is pursuing a career in medicine. As a Fulbright exchange participant, he will study the power of citizenship and identity in London at Roehampton University.
