Jillian E. Casey graduated summa cum laude from Elizabethtown College in 2013 with a degree in Political Science. While there, she was a member of Pi Sigma Alpha and Omicron Delta Epsilon. She also ran cross country and was captain of the track and field team at Elizabethtown College. Jillian travelled to The Gambia in 2011 where she taught at Sheikh Mass Kah, a local Islamic senior secondary school. Her experiences in The Gambia were the inspiration for her honours thesis, analysing the gendered effects of trade liberalization on literacy in sub-Saharan Africa. She will continue this research at Aberystwyth University where she will be pursuing a Master’s degree in International Relations. Following her Fulbright year in Wales, Jillian will pursue a JD, focusing on international law.
