Studying abroad was the most daunting thought, but given the chance I would do it all over again! I threw myself into socialising and the culture, attempting to fully integrate myself. One of my favourite memories was experiencing Thanksgiving - I went to my friends house and spent the day at her grandparents ranch. The food was absolutely fabulous!

I didn't receive any funding, which was hard, but the USA is a lot cheaper than the UK, so it is fairly easy to spend less once you are there. With regards to academics, I certainly found that the classes started out at a very basic level but then advanced beyond the UK academics. I was a second year student when I went to the USA, but I had to enroll in senior level classes because they are slightly behind academically (since US students take general education classes during their first year or two alongside their major modules).

I really would encourage everyone to study abroad. It is the best thing I have ever done, and I cannot wait to go back to visit all my friends again! Enjoy the experience, make the most of every opportunity and throw yourself into it! Have fun!
