I really wanted to experience university life in the US because of the wealth of opportunities available in the Liberal Arts degree programme. At the time of leaving secondary school I was uncertain about what I really wanted to study at university but certain that there were many subjects that I didn’t want to give up, I knew that studying in the US would give me more time to explore the areas I was interested in before having to narrow down to just one subject.
The first time I saw snow in New York was incredible. I travelled to Manhattan with my roommate and as we were walking through Times Square it began to snow. I knew at that point that I’d made the right choice coming to the US. I had never visited the US before coming here to study, and I was filled with concerns about my academics, making friends and having fun. At that point, I knew I had nothing to worry about.
My tip is to give yourself lots of time to complete the applications and study for any exams you might have to take. Definitely take advantage of any resources you have available and more than anything else be honest about who you are and what makes you unique in your application.
