The cheaper tuition and cost of living were definitely a big attraction for me, but I really wanted something that would make me stand out from the rest of the crowd in later life. I knew that the life skills and maturity I was sure to develop would help me when looking for jobs after graduation, something that is definitely important in the current recession.
My favourite memory has to be my first college soccer game, I was so privileged and excited to represent the university and surrounding community. We ended up winning the game 1-0 and I made some key saves near the end of the game to preserve the win. It was definitely one of my proudest moments.
I received an athletic scholarship to play soccer. We typically play an 18 game season from August-November and train 5-6 times per week. I thoroughly enjoy it and it keeps me in shape. After the season we have an offseason strength and conditioning program which we do 3 times a week. The most difficult thing is balancing soccer with assignments and lectures because of the lack of time, it certainly keeps me busy!
