Alumni Assistant (One year fixed-term contract)

We are seeking a highly organised and creative individual with strong administrative skills to provide support to our Alumni and Awards team.

Application deadline: Monday, 7 August 2017 (6 pm GMT)
Interview date: Tuesday, 15 August 2017

The US-UK Fulbright Commission is a not-for-profit organisation funded by both governments to promote educational exchange between the US and the UK. The Commission offers prestigious awards for postgraduate study and academic research in the US and the UK, as well as an advisory service for the British public about education in the US. For those individuals who receive a Fulbright award, they join the elite group of global Fulbright programme alumni around the world – over 320,000 people in over 150 countries have received Fulbright awards since the programme was founded seventy years ago.

Our Awards team is responsible for managing the application, selection, and in-country processing of all US-UK Fulbright award recipients. The team works closely with the Alumni and Development Manager who focuses on continuing the relationship with these individuals once they become alumni through regular communications, events and other engagement programmes. The Commission also fosters a sense of giving back amongst its alumni via several fundraising initiatives.

The Alumni Assistant will support both of these teams, as well as the grantees and alumni of our awards programme. The role will assist with a variety of key activities that underpin the success of both the awards and alumni relations programmes, including communication and marketing, information management, event planning and general administration. We are looking for an individual with strong communication and organisation skills who is extremely detail-oriented and works to a high level of accuracy. Candidates with previous experience working with alumni or scholarship programmes will be at a strong advantage.

The US-UK Fulbright Commission offers exceptional opportunities for people interested in international education. New staff members join a small but dynamic and highly-motivated team of colleagues who are passionate about their work. Our staff benefits scheme includes a 23 days annual leave in addition to days the office is closed.

Please note this is a fixed-term post for 12 months. Also, you must already possess the legal right to work in the UK.
